Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais was appointed as the new governor of Maharashtra as President Droupadi Murmu accepted former governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari's resignation.
Ranchi: Tripura Governor Ramesh Bais was on Tuesday appointed as the governor of Jharkhand replacing Droupadi Murmu, the first woman to be named to head the Raj Bhavan in the state since its formation in 2000. Murmu, who took charge in 2015, is also the first governor to have completed her full five-year tenure in the state. The office of the President notified the name of Bais along with seven more governors for other states. It was, however, not mentioned whether Bais will still be in charge of Tripura. The governors were appointed ahead of the highly anticipated reshuffle in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet. Notably, the Union minister of social justice and empowerment, Thawar Chand Gehlot, has also been taken off the portfolio and put on the gubernatorial assignment in Karnataka. ....
