Surveillance drone in the black sea. pentagon video shows a russian fighter jet dumping fuel on the mq 9 reaper before clipping the propeller in international airspace and crashing in into the water. russia claims its fighters did not strike and the reaper went down after making a sharp maneuver. the actions by russian s pilots in international airspace were reckless and dangerous. we maintain direct lines of communications for reasons like this to minimize risk of escalation. but, again, we do not seek armed conflict with russia. the video proves intentional harassment but they leave open the possibility that rush may not have meant to destroy the drone. they are not working too hard to find out. we can t get between the ears of the russian pilot and know what the intent was. russia has been trying to make the war in ukraine broader war with the west. meaning if the u.s. is not looking under the hood for answers on the drone, it could ....

Air. so to have to jets approach this things and knock it off course just, again shows the unsafe, unprofessional way that the russians are doing business. a drone isn t going to react like an f 16 does, where they can counter the maneuver. those are the kind of aircraft that are usually intercepted, are scrambled when the russians and other nato forces get involved in these types of intercepts. is this something that would ve come from high up the chain of command in russia? or would ve just being two pilots who were bored or one rogue pilot? that s the first thing that hit me anderson. i kind of think that patrol planes are out there looking for drones, looking for intelligence collecting assets. but the fact that it collided. i would put money, give it vegas odds at 60 40 that this was just an overanxious pilot who couldn t control his airplane or who did some very dumb thing. i don t think anybody ordered ....

Physical contact, that doesn t drive the drone off its mission, does it? no, certainly not. but you have to remember, too, anderson, this isn t an aircraft that can kind of avoid other aircraft coming in their way. it doesn t have a pilot who can turn his head both ways or quickly maneuver a slow moving jet excuse me, a slow moving turbo engine plane out of the area. so to have two jets approach this thing and knock it off course just again shows the unsafe, unprofessional way the russians are doing business. you know, a drone isn t going to react like an f-16 does. where they can counter the maneuver, and those are the kind of aircraft that are usually intercepted, are scrambled when the russians and other nato forces get involved in these kinds of intercept missions. is this something that would have come from high up the chain of command in russia or could it have just been, you know, two pilots who were bored and or one rogue pilot? yeah, that s the first thing ....

This grave. what else do we know? of course it comes at a very sensitive time between the u.s. and russia. obviously, they re both operating in the region and the potential for escalation and miscalculation is very high. so what we re learning is that the russian fighter jets kind of tracked this drone for about 30 to 40 minutes over the black sea, in international waters, before coming close to the drone and actually dumping fuel on it. and then going behind the drone and making contact with the propeller causing the drone to essentially become inoperable, forcing the u.s. military to then take it down over international waters. the u.s. is saying the pilots lacked confidence and they were reckless. was this an unsafe maneuver by the pilot itself or something that came from the kremlin? the pentagon is not saying at this moment. they re warning the russians that this kind of behavior can cause an escalation that could ....

We knocked it down. it was doing something the russians don t like and that a risk we take. if i m hearing hearing new clear, you are saying it s not mistake. it s not an anomaly. you believe it s kind of at russia provocation provoking is a bit. it could be. in fact i think there is good chance that is one of the state department officials i believe it was told the washington post earlier tonight these kinds of interceptions over the black se are common. these things have been going on for a long time. for whatever reason they decide there can take action and potentially either try to ramp things up a bit and put us at a difficult situation or perhaps push us back further to make it more difficult to get intelligence. i don t think it was an accident . the russian defense ministry said the following quoting as a result of the short maneuver, the mqm nine drone went into ....
