MAPLETON — One person is in serious condition following a crash between a semitruck and car in Mapleton on Friday, according to the Mapleton Fire Department. In a Facebook post, fire officials said at 12:15 p.m. crews responded to a crash between a semitruck and a car on U.S. Highway 89 and 1600 South. One person was transported to a trauma center in serious condition. The crash occurred at US 89 and 1600 South. MAPLETON — A 24-year-old woman was transported to the hospital after her car collided with a train near U.S. 89 and 2400 East on Friday, Mapleton City Fire Department said. According to the department, the crash occurred around 2 p.m. on Friday. The woman was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was transported by emergency responders to the hospital. Utah County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Spencer Cannon said that the woman was relatively uninjured in the accident. "She was very fortunate," said Cannon. "Really miraculous." Mapleton American Legion Post Fire 1:53 am An early morning fire has destroyed the American Legion Post in Mapleton, according to the Mapleton Fire Department. The Mapleton Fire Department and Huntingdon 911 say they responded to the flames at the Railroad Street building, around 4am Sunday morning. No injuries were reported, but the building is a total loss. No word on what caused the blaze.
