Cannabis smoker lost his job after drug-drive arrest, court hears
Chris Read, for Weaver, said the 25-year-old had been caught out in a routine stop in the middle of the afternoon. "He does have a previous matter in 2017. He had been very mindful of that and had changed his behaviour as a result," Mr Read said. "But he accepts he still uses cannabis sometimes. He tells me he had used it more than 24 hours before and thought he would be safe to drive a car. There was no criticism of his driving." The court heard Weaver had lost his job when he told his employer of the offence and was in the process of claiming benefits.
