Zee Entertainment incurred Rs 432 crore in expenses over two fiscal years owing to its failed merger with Sony's Culver Max Entertainment
The firm's merger-related costs were Rs 256 crore in 2023-24 and Rs 176 crore in the previous year.
The step was taken to achieve a cost-effective structure.
Zee Entertainment Enterprises announced on Tuesday the formation of a committee to assess its management's business performance and offer guidance. This follows recent failed entertainment deals, including a scrapped $10 billion merger with Sony India and a $1.4 billion cricket broadcasting agreement with Star India.
Business verticals requiring critical assessment, which include Margo Networks (Sugarbox), Teleplay and Zindagi, Hipi, Weyyak and English cluster of linear TV business, will need to substantially reduce losses and enhance performance levels.
