A third person has been arrested in connection with a Sunday night shooting on Marigny Circle in Lafayette.

In 2021, there were 33 homicide deaths in Lafayette Parish, according to reports from the Daily Advertiser. That's an increase from 2020 and 2019.

New Iberia Man Dies After Being Hit By Car Louisiana State Police Spokesman, Trooper Thomas Gossen says that a 56-year-old man died after being hit by a car while he was walking along Louisiana Highway 14 East. Gossen, the Public Information Officer for Troop I, says that Donald J. Derouen was pronounced dead at the scene at around 9 o'clock Sunday night. He adds that the driver of the car had agreed to a breathalyzer test at the site of the crash, and the woman was not impaired. A pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit by a car in west Lafayette.  The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating the Monday morning incident that happened the in 300 block of Marigny Circle, which is near West Congress Street and Colorado Road.  The victim was taken to a local hospital, the sheriff's office said in a tweet.  This is a developing story.  Contact Ashley White at adwhite@theadvertiser.com or on Twitter @AshleyyDi.
