A CARING chippy owner has been donating free lunches to staff at a Covid-19 test centre. David Henley, owner of the award-winning Henley’s of Wivenhoe, in Vine Drive, has delivered more than 100 hot meals to staff working at the test centre at the University of Essex. Wanting to do his bit, Mr Henley was put in touch with those running the test centre by ward councillor and Colchester Council leader Mark Cory. MORE than 50 council staff have been redeployed to help with Covid testing and vaccination efforts in Colchester. Dozens of Colchester Council staff have taken up new roles since the third national lockdown began, helping with the area's Covid response. Several staff are working as marshals at the new Covid vaccination centre at Colchester United's stadium as well as helping out as administrators. COLCHESTER councillors have voted to press ahead with the creation of a 9,000-home new town on the border with Tendring. During an extraordinary meeting of full council on Monday evening a majority of councillors voted to formally adopt section one of the authority’s local plan.
