DOVER, Del. (AP) — Criminal corruption charges against Delaware State Auditor Kathy McGuiness have no basis in fact and are based on a biased investigation that included false statements used to obtain a search warrant and a grand jury indictment, her attorney told a jury Tuesday.
The judge had indicated that the state risked triggering double jeopardy if they tried the case in New Castle County but never presented evidence that alleged crimes occurred there.
Prosecutors will now seek to present evidence to a Kent County jury in the criminal case against State Auditor Kathy McGuiness.
The issue is whether Kathy McGuiness committed any of the alleged crimes in New Castle County, as the indictment asserts.
