A former Boeing executive and test pilot for the aviation company's MAX program was indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly withholding information about technical issues of the aircraft. The incident is believed to have led to the two crashes of the aircraft that killed 346 people.

Mark Forkner was the chief technical pilot for the Boeing 737 Max. He’s been indicted on six counts for allegedly withholding crucial safety information from FAA evaluators and lying to help make the planes more profitable.

Prosecutors said Mark Forkner was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury and accused of deceiving safety regulators who were evaluating the plane.

Federal prosecutors say Mark Forkner deceived the F.A.A. and was “scheming to defraud” customers.
