SOUTH Western Railway have urged passengers to plan ahead as a Hampshire line shuts for nine days after a major upgrade is announced.
Engineers will be upgrading the 1970s signalling infrastructure and performing track and bridge maintenance.
The 1876-built steel viaduct, which supports two platforms at Portsmouth & Southsea station, had 10 of its 17 spans strengthened in January 2021. The
Islanders commuting through Portsmouth by train will face eight days of disruption from this Saturday (15 January).
