Judiciary committee? the audience should understand the normal process is open ended and everyone involved can offer amendments to legislation. markups for impeachment might be different in some ways. what do you bow know about how this will progresses through the commit canny? it should progresses in the way most markups do. and markup, in my opinion, is a fancy way for saying it s an amendment process. people on both sides are free to offer amendments. and my supsition is that folks on the other side of the aisle are going to offer an amendment that will likely strike the entire substance of the articles and perhaps replace it with nothing or something that looks far different than anything that the present articles resemble. but they have a chance to ufr the amendments. ....

Could have come up with that would have changed the discussion here. danny, walk us through here what comes next. this mock-up which begins at 7:00 a.m., which is the house judiciary committee presenting their opening statements and then presenting their articles of impeachment continuing tomorrow morning. after that take us through the process of this markup and what we can expect down the line? markup is probably going to have the same fireworks from last week. and then the articles have to get through the judiciary and then next week they have to be passed by the house formally. there are a few stages but they re expected to sail through because the house is controlled by democrats but i would expect fiery debate that we ve seen in the last week. i was looking at the clinton impeachment in preparation for all of this. there were four articles of impeachment brought up by president clinton at the time. two of them he was found guilty. two of them he was not. do you see any sort ....

I don t think that s the message we want any president to receive. this one or a future one. but we re going to do our job. with little regard to, you know, what the future may hold by doing it now. what do you make of the small group of moderates that have floated the idea of censure in the house? i know it seems is that is that a dead idea? and if that is what happens in the senate, how would you feel about that result? i don t think that would properly hold the president accountable for what he s done. but i will give credit to so many of the moderates and vulnerable members in our caucus who courageously came forward early on when the president was caught doing this in an op-ed they wrote. people who worked in national security and the military saying that no one s above the law. and they actually put us, in many ways, in this position to hold the president accountable. congressman eric swalwell, thank you for coming on. you re going to be part of probably the most watche ....

Why not just let him cheat one more time? why not let him have foreign help just one more time? that is what that argument amounts to. as rachel and i were just discussing they will begin considering the articles of impeachment at 7:00 p.m. tomorrow night. and they leading off our discussion on this important night, of illinois, a member of the house intelligence committee. gene robinson, an associate editor and pulitzer prize winning columnist for the washington post. and john is with us, a national affairs analyst for nbc news and netinate. he is the editor and chief of kaet the recount. can you tell us how this markup is going to work in the house ....

Indefensible, and we re going to see a lot of that today. yeah, and one of the great underlying issues of the campaign that has started, the election next year, is going to be the damage done to institutions like the fbi, like the justice department. how long will it take to recoup that damage? can it be repaired? and that s, i think, going to be a huge underlying issue as we go forward. well, right here on msnbc, you ll watch it all play out. that does it for us this morning. chuck todd picks up the coverage right now. and good morning. i am chuck todd here live in new york. and if you think this has been a week for the history books, remember, it s just hump day. this morning we are watching two huge stories unfolding simultaneously. the first focuses on those two articles of impeachment unveiled by democrats on tuesday, and set to go to committee mark-up tonight with a vote expected this time tomorrow. mark-up is things they do for bills and legislation, and yes, this is being ....
