ALPENA, Mich.– Saturday’s weather didn’t stop Alpena residents from turning out for the Jingle Bell Crawl. Downtown Alpena was a regular winter wonderland on Saturday, which made the Downtown Development Authority’s “Jingle Bell Crawl” more fitting. The event was an opportunity for people to support Alpena’s downtown in a difficult year. Mary Rajasehhar of Olivet Book & Gift said she was happy to see customers’ enthusiasm. She said she’s been having strong holiday sales this year . Down the street at Rusty Petunia’s Marketplace, customers flowed in and out for ornaments, décor, and gifts. Owner Laura Shearer said she’s thankful for shoppers keeping holiday traditions.
