Carl Lee Strohmenger, 76, an active member of the environmental community, passed away suddenly from heart complications on January 26, 2021 at his home. Born in Pennsylvania to Richard and Eileen Strohmenger, Carl came to Florida as a young child with his family eventually settling in Tampa. Carl received his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Florida and then spent six years working on his Phd in Chemistry at UF in Gainesville. Randall County Master Gardeners recognized at awards ceremony Submitted to the Globe-News Randall County Master Gardeners recently held its annual awards banquet virtually via Zoom. Master Gardeners are volunteers who work with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service to improve gardening skills throughout the community. Lori Herman was named 2020 Intern of the Year. Herman has been a gardener for the past 20 years. She loves to grow perennials, flowering shrubs, and container plants. December 18, 2020 STERLING, Ill-The University of Illinois Extension is pleased to announce our newest Master Gardener interns for Whiteside County.  LuAnn Meyer and Paula Reid graduated from the Master Gardener program on November 19. This year’s fall class was held as a flipped classroom style. For 12 weeks, trainees were given a reading assignment and 2-4 videos to watch at their own pace before meeting online via zoom with the section instructor once a week.
