Duke's of Dorchester to auction contents of stately home Wormington Grange

THE lavish contents of one of Britain's most beautiful stately homes are being auctioned off in a £1m everything-must-go sale run by a Dorchester auction house. Wormington Grange has been owned since the 1970s by John Evetts, the grandson of Lord Ismay, Winston Churchill's chief military strategist during World War Two. Mr Evetts has sold the neoclassical Cotswolds mansion for a multi-million pounds sum as he is downsizing to a smaller property in the area. 'Dorchester is trying to see off home building plan'

This week my wife and I had our first non essential trip out. We went to the top of the Abbotsbury Hill and had a great view of Portland which most people do not realise has more homes than Dorchester. We are so lucky to live in Dorset and well understand why other people want to live here. Sadly we have yet to explore the water meadows North of Dorchester although I suspect we have plenty of time as the citizens of Dorchester will be out with their banners and pitch forks preventing the influx of foreigners from joining their community.
