WATERTOWN — On Monday night, city police officer Wayne W. McConnell got to high five a little boy whose life he’s credited with saving. During a City Council meeting Monday night, Mr. McConnell was among two officers recognized with a Life Saving Award from Police Chief Charles P. Donoghue. WATERTOWN — The planned Thompson Park amphitheater would have an approximate price tag of $7.75 million, with the city having to kick in about $1 million in “soft costs.” City officials are expected to submit an application by next Monday’s deadline to the Department of Defense for the much-anticipated project. WATERTOWN — The City Council will take the first step on Tuesday night to keep marijuana dispensaries from opening up in the city. In an informal vote three weeks ago, the City Council instructed City Manager Kenneth A. Mix to draft a law that would ban the sale and distribution of marijuana in the city. On Tuesday night, council members are expected to schedule a public hearing on July 19 for the public to weigh in on the issue.
