Crews are still working to recover two barges after several became loose on the Ohio River after a "navigation incident" set them free early Tuesday.
A website has been set up by Louisville Emergency Management to provide updates on any detection of methanol or other potential dangers in the Ohio River following barges crashing into the McAlpine Locks and Dam.
Officials said that water samples were collected on Tuesday and Wednesday by the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet with results showing no detection of methanol.
The locks at McAlpine Locks and Dam reopened roughly 17 hours after barges broke loose from a vessel and became pinned against the dam.
One barge has been removed and two remain pinned against the structure at the approach to the McAlpine Locks and Dam on the Ohio River.
