First, this wouldn t be the first time since the city has been using another facility that had been previously used to house inmates, now being used to house migrants. in terms of the mcc, we are still very far from potential use. for starters, the federal government has to authorize the use. a spokesperson for the bureau of prisons wouldn t go into detail in terms of whether or not those conversations are happening with the city, but did tell me they have not finalized any long-term plan. i asked a city official whether or not that s even a possibility. that official tells me at this point it is not. but it is in the realm of 3,000 other locations they ve looked at to try to house asylum seekers. the city is calling on the white house to help expedite work ....
