Authorities, landowners tussle deprives girls of education

CHARSADDA: Scores of girls have been deprived of education for the last four years as a number of schools for them remained closed owing to the negligence on the part of Education Department authorities.
According to data, the schools remained closed in Charsadda district due to various issues included Government Girls Primary School Srekh, Government Girls Primary School Mazara, Government Girls Primary School Gagar, Government Girls Primary School Nissatta, Dagwal, Government Girls Primary School Zarbab and others. It was learnt that three of the closed girls schools are located in the constituency of provincial Minister for Mine and Minerals Department Arif Ahmadzai and one each is in the constituencies of former provincial minister Sultan Muhammad Khan and Member Provincial Assembly Shakil Bashir Umarzai.

CHARSADDA: The police claimed to have arrested two accused allegedly involved in firing on the caravan of Awami National Party MPA Shakil Bashir Umarzai and recovered the weapons and vehicles used in the crime.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, District Police Officer Muhammad Shoaib Khan and Superintendent of Police Sajjad Khan said that they had arrested two accused identified as Hamid Ali of Tarangzai and Fazal Malik of Umarzai, who had staged an attack on the caravan of ANP Member Provincial Assembly Shakil Bashir Umarzai on Ghani Khan Road in Charsadda on January 5.

ANP leader not optimistic about Afghan peace talks

CHARSADDA: Provincial president of the Awami National Party (ANP), Aimal Wali Khan, on Monday said that the ongoing Afghan peace talks would not yield any positive results as certain elements in the parleys did not want peace in Afghanistan.
Speaking at a press conference in connection with the Bacha Khan and Abdul Wali Khan death anniversaries and firing on the caravan of ANP leader Shakil Bashir Umarzai in Charsadda, he said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project was being exploited by everyone for their vested interests.
Member Provincial Assembly Shakil Bashir Umarzai, Farooq Jan, Tehseen Abdullah and others were also present on the occasion.Aimal Wali condemned the attack on Shakil Bashir Umarzai and paid tributes to the Shaheed policeman Shahenshah in the firing.
