Wyoming ITC to Conduct Large-Scale Carbon Capture Testing Project - Vimarsana News

Wyoming ITC to Conduct Large-Scale Carbon Capture Testing Project

DOE recently announced it has awarded $99 million to two projects for Phase III of their  Demonstration of Large-Scale Pilot Carbon Capture Technologies funding opportunity. Membrane Technology and Research (MTR) was awarded $51,699,939 from DOE, and with additional non-federal funding, this project will bring over $64 million in research dollars into Wyoming.  “I am delighted that Membrane Technology and Research (MTR) has been selected to move forward in this process, and that Wyoming has been chosen to host this important demonstration of cutting edge carbon capture technology,” Gov...

Cynthia Lummis said on Tuesday that a project that is slated to bring over $64 million in research dollars to Wyoming “is a huge development for the Wyoming energy industry.” Wyoming’s Integrated Test Center will host one of two projects selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for Phase III funding of a large-scale pilot carbon capture project.  The Department of Energy announced on Apr...

Innovation in Carbon Capture Technology

Carbon capture technology may be essential for the world to stay within the 2°C warming target outlined by the Paris Agreement. Although the deployment of this technology has begun to pick up in recent years, it is still a long way from the levels of scale-up needed to have a meaningful impact on climate change. Current technology for stripping CO2 from industrial gas streams or directly from the atmosphere remains costly and energy-intensive, and existing carbon capture facilities have struggled with downtime, keeping to CO2 capture targets, and managing costs.   In this climate, there are...

Wyoming To See Large Demonstration Of Carbon Capture At ITC

Credit Cooper McKim The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded $51.7 million dollars to a California-based carbon capture company called Membrane Technology and Research (MTR) in order to set up a large-scale pilot demonstration in northeast Wyoming. MTR is expected to set up at the partially-state funded research site Wyoming Integrated Test Center, located next to the Dry Fork Station, a coal-fired power plant in Gillette. "Membrane Technology is a most promising version of carbon capture, and now it can move forward to the pilot project phase," Gov. Mark Gordon said. "This is also an examp...
