THE 140-kilometer Metro Cebu Bike Lane is around 90 percent complete and is expected to open to the public next month.
The project worth P150 million will traverse the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu and Talisay.
On Thursday, May 6, 2021, Department of Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade inspected the 2.3-kilometer section at the South Road Properties in Cebu City, which is being constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways.
With a width of five meters, it is located on the right side of the Cebu South Coastal Road right next to a three-meter pedestrian walk.
Its construction should encourage more people to use bicycles to get from point A to B and promote an eco-friendly and more sustainable mode of transportation. ....

Tugade inspects P150-million bike lane project

TRANSPORTATION Secretary Arthur Tugade, on Thursday, May 6, 2021, led the inspection of the 2.3 kilometers (km) South Road Properties (SRP) section of the 140 km-Metro Cebu Bike Lane which is set to be open for public use by June 2021.
Edgar Tabacon, director of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 7 tasked to manage the construction of the project, said as of the first week of May 2021, the accomplishment rate of this portion is at 90 percent.
The exclusive bike lane located on the right side of the Cebu South Coastal Road has a width of five meters with a pedestrian sidewalk of three meters, which is separated from the bike lane. ....

TRANSPORT Secretary Arthur Tugade, on Thursday, May 6, 2021, led an inspection of the 2.3-kilometer-long South Road Properties (SRP) section of the 140-kilometer Metro Cebu Bike Lane which is set to open for public use in June 2021.
Edgar Tabacon, director of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 7 tasked to undertake the project’s construction, said as of the first week of May 2021, the project has been completed by about 90 percent.
The P150 million-worth Metro Cebu Bike Lane project will traverse Talisay City, Cebu City, Mandaue City and Lapu- Lapu City.
Tabacon said the construction of the Bike Lane went full blast in February 2021. ....
