Its sound quality is unique, but certainly includes hints of banjo, mandolin and lute. In the hands of Iranian tar virtuoso Hamed Sadeghi, he and the instrument took centre stage, delivering spellbinding and evocative sounds of mystique, colour, warmth, passion and beauty.
