Jacksonville City Council tangled over what it means to be unified while voting to make single source lobbying contracts come before council.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office took a list of projects to a City Council committee looking at moving the jail. Council approved the spending Tuesday.
The current jail is 30 years old with a capacity of about 2,600 people and “built up” instead of out.
The Downtown Investment Authority introduced the bill, which is being reviewed by the City's Neighborhoods, Community Services, Public Health and Safety Committee.
If the Sheriff's Office moved out of the Police Memorial Building, it would take about 80% of the building.
