Family members of the gunman who killed two and wounded several others during a shooting rampage at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School recently asked police to take a gun from the home, interim St. Louis Metropolitan Police Chief Michael Sack said Wednesday. They also had been monitoring his mental health and helped him get treatment and medication.
On Wednesday St. Louis interim police commissioner Michael Sack indicated the family of the 19-year-old who attacked Central Vision and Performing Arts High School "made every effort" to intervene, including having the 19-year-old's gun taken away.
A student and teacher were killed, along with the 19-year-old gunman.
City, police and school leaders emphasized that they were fully prepared for what took place at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School on Monday, Oct. 24.
