Cape Coral police closed the eastbound lanes of the Midpoint Bridge shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday to investigate what they called a "targeted" fatal shooting near the bridge. The eastbound lanes of the bridge's roadway, Veterans Memorial Parkway, were a crime scene and death investigation due to the shooting, police said. "This stemmed from a shooting into a vehicle. One person is deceased and a second is in critical condition," a Cape Coral police statement said.
