The City of Airdrie has issued residential street sweeping effective April 30. Road operations leader Mike Avramenko advises residents to move vehicles according to dates indicated on large orange signs at main entrances to communities.
Residential roads currently have the lowest priority ranking when it comes to snow clearing in the winter months.
Council’s decision stems from concerns voiced during a previous meeting that highlighted the necessity to revamp the City’s snow and ice removal policies as Airdrie’s population approaches 90,000 people, necessitating more efficient strategies to tackle winter’s challenges.
According to the City, the municipality will be using a 'tag and tow' program in order to make sure the city gets a clean sweep within each neighbourhood.
