Saudi Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Mining Affairs Khalid al-Mudaifer stressed the importance of government support and international cooperation in facing the challenges of the mineral supply chains. International reports indicate an increase in demand for minerals such as lithium, cobalt, and copper, which requires an increase in investment in mining and processing by $3 trillion by 2030, in addition to the need to provide between 300 and 500 additional gigawatts of energy by 2030.

The third edition of the Future Minerals Forum (FMF) 2024, held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, will kick off at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center (KAICC) in Riyadh on Wednesday.   With participation from over 80 countries and featuring more than 200 prominent speakers, the event aims to delve into the prospects of the mineral industry and devise solutions to the challenges it confronts.  

Saudi Arabia has set policies and built infrastructure to become a regional and global hub for green minerals processing, said Vice Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Mining Affairs Khalid bin Saleh Al-Mudaifer.

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and the Diriyah Gate Development Authority have signed a memorandum of understanding to regulate the country’s mining businesses, Saudi Press Agency reported. Under the MoU, both parties will enhance cooperation in all common fields that serve the various sectors related to regulating mining works in the Kingdom.
