550 Ugandans get free artificial limbs

A 40-day ‘Artificial Limbs Fitment Camp’ which launched mid-November has put cheery smiles on faces of many Ugandans living with physical disabilities.
So far 140 persons with disabilities in Uganda have been fitted with artificial limbs designed to specification by Indian doctors at the camp organized by the government of India. The camp is an Indian government initiative aimed at addressing the sufferings of handicaps all over the world.
The initiative is titled; ‘Artificial Limbs Fitment Camp’ under “India for Humanity” mission and it is meant to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and to honour Mahatma Gandhi’s services to humanity, his philosophy of compassion and caring. ....
