Indo Petroleum Marketing: Delhi-based start-up Indo Petroleum Marketing begins pan-India ops from Assam

Delhi-based start-up Indo Petroleum Marketing (IPM) has begun its pan-India operations in Assam after being granted fuel retail marketing authorization by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. IPM aims to set up five outlets in rural areas of Assam and plans to establish petrol pumps nationwide. This makes IPM the first Ministry-authorized start-up private oil marketing company (OMC) to begin operations.

bio-gas blending: Government makes biogas blending mandatory

The government on Saturday announced compulsory blending of compressed biogas, which is extracted from municipal and agriculture waste, in natural gas to cut reliance on imports. Initially, 1 per cent of biogas will be blended in gas used in automobiles and household kitchens for cooking from April 2025, a government statement said. The share will be increased to around 5 per cent by 2028.

Vedanta wins arbitration against govt in $1.1 billion cost disallowance case

Vedanta Ltd has won an arbitration against the Indian government's demand for a higher payout from its Rajasthan oil and gas fields. The government had sought additional profit petroleum after disallowing certain costs incurred by Vedanta. The arbitration tribunal upheld Vedanta's contention that the additional payment was not payable as per the terms of the Production Sharing Contract. Vedanta is now reviewing the award's financial impact.
