Our Reporter Dimapur, Aug. 12(EMN): 21-year-old Jine Singh was crowned Miss Dimapur, 2022, while Choichoi Lhoujem and Visakuo were adjudged the 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up respectively. Organised by Ethnic Group of Nagaland (EGoN), the pageant was held at IMC hall in Dimapur on Friday with H Haiying, advisor for Prison, Printing and Stationary, Nagaland as the special guest. A total of 15 contestants competed in the pageant. Individual subtitle winners includes: Lihyeih Konyak won Miss Talent title, Jine Singh won both Miss Personality and Style Icon, Halunchi won the Fresh Face title, Alovi Achumii won Miss Fitness and Viewers Choice award was won by Choichoi Lhoujem Delivering a short speech, Haiying expressed that beauty pageants embodies a woman with additional life skills that can be used to help the people in many ways. He further shared that over the years, the notion of ‘beauty with a purpose’ has invoked severe criticisms and sarcastic reviews from certain sections of people because of the fact that some crowned beauty queens have misused their beauty and titles to their own undue advantage which is not the standard set up by the organisers. Dimapur, July 31 (EMN): The curtain raiser for Miss Dimapur was held at Hotel Acacia on July 30, with DGP Prison, Rupin Sharma, as the special guest. Addressing the gathering, the DGP stated that Nagaland is a place filled with people who are ‘in love with their cultures’. He opined that Naga cultural shawls and costumes could be used for the economic development of the Nagas. AN update stated that EGON would be marketing the products made by inmates, such as sanitary pads, handicrafts, etc. Highlights of the programme included the announcement of Miss Personality and Miss Talent, which were won by Jine Singh and Lihyeih T Konyak, contestant number 2 and 12 respectively. A talent round was also conducted, whereby the top five contestants pre-selected by the EGON team, showcased their talents, which comprised contemporary and bollywood dances, martial arts, included indigenous weaving, etc. It stated that a modern ethnic round was also conducted, which was judged by president, Nagaland Designers Association, Ruso Rhi. The winners of the modern ethnic round will be announced on the finale of Miss Dimapur. The programme was hosted by Imli Lee and Nise Meruno and words of acknowledgement were delivered by Watila Subbha.
