Victim in Pontiac hit and run dies from injuries

The victim of a hit-and-run Monday night in Pontiac has died from her injuries. Vanessa Deanes, 29, died Tuesday after being hospitalized following the crash on Perry Street near Montcalm. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said she was struck shortly before 6 p.m. as she crossed the street, outside a designated crosswalk. The driver is a 31-year-old Pontiac man who fled the scene but was arrested about four hours later, thanks to a tip from a witness, the sheriff’s office said.
