This is so heartbreaking for so many reasons. After word of a mass shooting in South Carolina started making the rounds on Wednesday, it came out later yesterday that there is a New England connection involved. Phillip Adams, who played for the New England Patriots for a total of six games in the 2011 season, is accused of killing five people in South Carolina, injuring a sixth, and later killing himself after evidence led police to his parents' house. According to the Richmond Police Department, a student at Marcia Buker Elementary School brought in a loaded handgun to school on Tuesday, April 6th. It was determined there were no threats and the student who brought in the handgun notified staff themself. The investigation is open and charges may come against the child and their parents. No other details have been released, however, this is a great reminder of the importance of safe gun ownership. It's entirely possible that the student's parents left the gun open and accessible and the child decided to bring it in for show and tell.

According to a press release from the Maine State Police, they are looking for the public's help in locating a missing 16 year old girl from Roxbury, Maine Mackenzie Zitoli was last seen at the Irving Circle K convenience store in Bethel at about 10 PM last night (April 5th). It is thought that she is in the company of a 26 year old man from New York. The man's name is Tyler Streeter and it is believed he is driving a black 2008 Ford Focus with a smashed out rear window and green rims.  The vehicle's plate number is KKG9112.
