A black family told of their joy after a $75 million plot of beachfront land was returned to them by LA officials 98 years after it was seized from their ancestors.
For a decade and a half, it was one of the few places where people of color could enjoy SoCal's spectacular coast.
In a heartfelt ceremony, Los Angeles County completed the historic land return of Bruce's Beach by handing the deed to its rightful Black heirs.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously on Tuesday to return Bruce's Beach to the black family who formerly owned it.
"I would like to say I was surprised by that, but not really," the girl's mom said. "She is incredibly intelligent, kind, and she has a big heart. It’s not the first time she’s helped somebody."
