Wigton motorist jailed for more than 4 years for causing Ingrid Messenger death

A motorist who caused the death of a 13-year-old north Cumbrian schoolgirl by dangerous driving has been jailed for four and a half years. Tony Packenham, 47, also admitted causing "serious injury" by dangerous driving to both the mother of Ingrid Messenger and her 15-year-old sister. The charges came after an accident on February 18 last year on the C1036 at Broadfield Common, near Ivegill, which caused the death of Ingrid Messenger.
