Despite resistance from environmentalists, human rights bodies, eminent citizens, local people and children, construction work of Kalabagan police station is going on at Tetultala playground.
Tentultala, the playground in Kalabagan on which the Dhaka Metropolitan Police is currently building a police station, was proposed to be kept as a playground by the Department of Architecture in 1980.
Environmental organisations today demanded that the government withdraw the decision of constructing Kalabagan police station building on Tetultala playground and keep it open for all.
Police carried on construction work at the city’s Tentultala playground yesterday though Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said he had asked the city corporation and others concerned to find an alternative place for Kalabagan Police Station.
