IPOH: A total of 79 people have been arrested in various operations conducted by the Northern Brigade General Operations Forces (GOF) from January to June.
Northern Brigade GOF deputy commander Mohd Noh Khamis said 64 are Malaysians and the rest are from Thailand and Myanmar.
“During this period, we had about 188 cases in five different operations. It is fewer than (the same period) last year, where we recorded 205 cases.
“The decrease in cases is probably due to the ongoing movement control order and the closing of borders to the public,” he told reporters at the Northern Brigade GOF meeting room here on Monday (July 5).

KUALA LUMPUR, April 7 Cosmetics entrepreneur Nur Sajat Kamaruzzaman is currently hiding in Thailand,
Harian Metro reported, quoting an anonymous source.
The report published yesterday, however, said that the source did not offer any details as to how the controversial figure managed to cross the border, evading authorities.
The Malay-language tabloid also quoted Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador as merely confirming Nur Sajat s current whereabouts in a “neighbouring nation”, refusing to confirm if it is indeed Thailand as claimed by the anonymous source.
BUKIT KAYU HITAM (Bernama): General Operations Force (PGA) Battalion 3 has distributed photos of controversial cosmetics entrepreneur Muhammad Sajjad Kamaruzzaman, or better known as Nur Sajat, who is on the run from police and religious authorities, at border control posts to ensure he could not escape to the neighbouring country.
GOF Northern Brigade deputy commander ACP Mohd Noh Khamis said Sajat s photos had been distributed since last month. However, no information had been received so far. The closest country is Thailand, so we will continue to observe. He may have disguised himself to avoid being detected by the authorities, so we will step up control at all security posts, he told a press conference here on Thursday (April 1).
