Ekuphumleni old age home: Residents 'living in fear' after rape of staffer


Residents at Ekuphumleni Old Age Home in Eastern Cape are “fearing for their lives” after a staffer was allegedly raped during a burglary at gunpoint on Sunday 11 April.
The two attackers forced their way into the Ekuphumleni Home for the Aged at around 1:00 and subsequently crossed paths with the employee. The staffer was held at gunpoint and raped by the men.
The old age home – which accommodates sixty residents – is based in the Zwide township in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape. This is understood to be the first incident of this nature at the home in nearly 40 years and has left the elderly residents at the home traumatised. ....
