ALPINE COUNTY, Calif. - Due to large-scale rain events in Eastern Alpine County, the Alpine County Unified Command recommends residents remain vigilant and prepare for large-scale flash flooding and debris flows in the Markleeville, Markleevillage, Highway 89 Corridor to Wolf Creek, Pleasant Valley, and areas adjacent to these locations.
ALPINE COUNTY, Calif. - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will be temporarily closing parts of SR89 and SR4 on Saturday, July 16 for the annual Tour of the California Alps - Death Ride. SR89/Monitor Pass - It will be closed from the SR89/SR4 junction south of Marklevilleto the SR395/SR89 south of Topaz Lake from 5 a.m.
The 41st annual Death Ride, the tour of the California Alps cycling event, will be held Saturday along Ebbetts and Monitor passes.
