Today is the last day the 186-year-old zoo opens its doors to the public
Bristol Zoo Gardens, which has been open for 186 years on the edge of Clifton Downs, will be turned into sustainable homes, with the Bristol Zoological Society saying their 'hands were forced'.
A gold plaque was put up saying: 'On 3 September 2022 Bristol Zoo Gardens, the world's oldest provincial zoo, closed after 186 years. Thank you for the memories.'
The zoo, known for its international conservation work, is closing its doors for the final time after 186 years.
