Saturn’s moon Enceladus has phosphorous. The finding came from recently analyzed icy particles emitted from the natural satellite’s ocean plumes, detected by NASA’s Cassini spacecraft. The discovery means Enceladus has all the chemical building blocks for life as we know it on Earth. “This is the final one saying, ‘Yes, Enceladus does have all of the ingredients that typical Earth life would need to live and that the ocean there is habitable for life as we know it,” Morgan Cable, astrobiology chemist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, told The...

Phosphorus, a necessary component of DNA and other biological molecules, is present on Saturn's ocean moon Enceladus.

James Webb Space Telescope detected mysterious plumes from Enceladus' south pole, suggesting potential for extraterrestrial life due to its liquid ocean's conditions. Read the article to learn more.

It's unclear what's causing the massive plume, although NASA scientists think the ocean on Saturn's moon could be home to some sort of extraterrestrial life.

A newfound, highly adaptable bacterium shows the kind of diverse life to look for on Europa or Enceladus, astronomers say.
