The notice took effect at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Fire Chief Morgan Hackl says, “Up until now, we have been able to remedy the life safety issues in the building.” But, he says, “Following repeated inspections, orders to remedy issues, and tickets, the conditions in a number of suites have degraded to such an extreme state the Fire Department can no longer, in good conscience, allow people to live there.” The latest...

In 2020, the fire department responded to the Prairie Heights condo tower 109 times for criminal activity and vandalism. This year, firefighters have been called 45 times.
