More than 50 policemen were injured in a clash with a mob in Uttarakhand's Haldwani when they went to raze a madrasa that the authorities declared illegal.
The Akhoondji Masjid and Behrul Uloom madrasa were, later, demolished by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on January 30. Locals claim the mosque was built during Razia Sultana's reign making the structure nearly 600-700 years old.
Vadodra mayor Keyur Rokadia, however, claimed that the town development officer had tendered his resignation not due to pressure from the BJP but due to his ill health.
