Mount Evans, the Colorado fourteener named after the state's disgraced territorial governor John Evans, has been given a new name -- Mount Blue Sky -- by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names.
The mountain had been named for Colorado’s second territorial governor, John Evans, determined by historians to have set in motion the Sand Creek Massacre of 1864.
