Picture: FILE Nineteen beautiful debutantes were presented to the Vicar-Delegate, the Very Reverend Father John Clerkin in July, 1963. The presentation was part of the Catholic Charity Ball in aid of the Home of Compassion at the Club Hotel in Suva. Graceful curtsies, Victorian posies, souvenir programs with pencils attached on silken cords and an old time waltz were part of the program. The beautiful girls were presented by JN Falvey. The girls were all clad in full-length white frocks, some bouffant, some bellstyled and some fashioned on sheath lines. ....
