Stock Island boater rescued

Lower Keys Marine Deputy Ed Swogger worked with the U.S. Coast Guard to locate a boater Saturday reported missing the day prior. Victor Garcia Blanco, 71, of Stock Island was found dehydrated, but otherwise in good health in an inoperable 12-foot boat in the Waltz Key Basin. Blanco slept overnight in the boat.The U.S. Coast Guard issued a be-on-the-lookout alert for the vessel in the area of Mud Keys and Snipe Keys. Deputy Swogger towed the boat back to shore for Blanco.
