The police said the government servant, who is an employee of another bank, allegedly came across the two men identified as Ganesh Shivaji Chavan (33) and Manoj Kupinder Pawar (43) through a friend.
The actor said in her complaint that the accused had allegedly prepared a fake marriage certificate and pretended to be her husband to buy a property on her behalf in 2016, and she was duped of Rs 15 crore.
The police said the complainant, Vishal Agarwal, had met one of the accused identified as Sanjay through a common friend in April 2023.
Senior inspector of Bangur Nagar police station Pramod Tawade said, “We have registered a case under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 408 (criminal breach of trust by an employee) and 420 (cheating) of the IPC against the woman.”
The police suspect that the accused may have duped many more individuals using the same modus operandi.
