According to Ghaziabad police data, a total of 1,284 FIRs of theft have been lodged in the district from January 1 to June 30 this year, a spike of nearly 19% compared to the corresponding period in 2020, when 1,082 cases were filed. The victim, identified as Rishi Chaudhary, was an employee of Muradnagar Ordnance Factory. He also worked as a property dealer and often loaned money to people on interest, police said.
