Court orders construction firm to compensate worker with N1.5m

Justice Mustapha Tijani of the National Industrial Court in Lagos has ordered the management of Nahman Construction Limited to pay its worker, Muraina Taiwo, the sum of N1.5m as compensation.
It was gathered that Taiwo sometime in September 2015 had an accident while working as a labourer at the firm’s site at the Landmark Event Centre.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Taiwo was rushed to hospital, where surgery was performed on his leg, after the firm paid the bill.
It was learnt that the firm refused to pay for a second surgery after the hospital informed it of the need to correct the injury to his knees and also refused to pay Taiwo’s salary despite not terminating his employment. ....
