Spartanburg man gets 30 years for crime spree

A Spartanburg man received a 30-year prison sentence Friday for a daylong crime spree that included armed robbery, kidnapping and criminal sexual conduct. Jamal R. Smith, 21, pleaded guilty to numerous charges that included 3 counts of armed robbery, 3 counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, first-degree burglary and multiple weapons charges. Two of the pleas – failure to stop for a blue light and siren and possession of a stolen vehicle – involved unrelated cases, according to Murray Glenn, spokesperson for the 7th District Solicitor's Office.
