North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper has declared a state of emergency ahead of severe weather expected across the state beginning Monday evening and continuing Tuesday.

With the threat of severe weather Tuesday across central North Carolina, local officials are reminding residents to sign up for Code Red Alerts.
