Alabama News Updated: The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way people communicate with face to face interactions being limited. The Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs is no exception. ADVA has had to adapt to the pandemic with the launch of virtual hearings in its Appeals & Review Division. Before the pandemic, an Alabama veteran had the options of appealing a claim by traveling to Montgomery for an in-person hearing, have a team travel to their home, or have no hearing at all. Alabama News Marche Johnson is now the newest member of the Montgomery City Council. Johnson won the special election runoff for the District 3 seat Tuesday. She replaces Tracy Larkin who held the seat for 17 years before his death in January.
